ENTRY-LEVEL MECHANIC – FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP (ESSEX COUNTY)-   The successful candidate will perform maintenance and repair on a wide variety of municipal vehicles and equipment, working under the guidance of experienced mechanics to develop their skills and knowledge. The responsibilities include performing routine preventative maintenance, such as oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations, assisting in diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling mechanical and electrical systems on light-duty, heavy-duty, and specialized equipment along helping perform repairs on vehicle components, including brakes, engines, transmissions, and suspension systems, cleaning and organizing the workshop area and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts and supplies, learning to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues, completing necessary paperwork and service records accurately and on time, operating and test driving vehicles and equipment as part of the repair process, and following all safety protocols and regulations. The qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicles and equipment repair, a willingness to learn and grow with hands-on training, an ability to follow verbal and written instructions, a basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in mechanical repair, possession of a valid driver's license and an ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the first year. Preferred but not required is experience in an automotive or mechanical repair shop or a post-secondary education or training from a vocational or technical school. The position is full time and affords medical and dental benefits along with paid sick and personal time, vacation and holidays. The salary range is $45,000 to $55,000 per year. WATER/SEWER OPERATOR - The Township of Fairfield (Essex County) is seeking applications to fill two (2) permanent full-time position immediately for an opening in the Water/Sewer Department in the Department of Public Works.  This is a full-time position that includes medical and dental benefits provided to full-time employees as referred to in the IBEW contract.  The Applicant must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License along with prior experience.  A CDL is highly desirable.
